Hudson Passed the REST Act!

Hudson's Common Council passed the Rent Emergency Stabilization for Tenants (REST) Act! The bill sets fair limits on rent increases and supports stable housing for tenants in Hudson! Thanks to our community for making this happen!

Immediate Support Needed for St. Louis Tornado Relief

A powerful tornado struck St. Louis last week, devastating entire neighborhoods and knocking out power for thousands. HCHC stands in full solidarity. Our trusted partners at Action St. Louis are leading immediate, on-the-ground relief—and they need our support now.

Here’s how to take action today:

  • Donate essential items: Water, batteries, flashlights, chargers, brooms, trash bags, and more.
Drop-off location: O’Fallon Park Rec Center, 4343 W. Florissant Ave, St. Louis, MO 63115

  • Make a donation: actionstl.org/tornado

Let’s move with love and urgency.

Join Our Mission

Hudson/Catskill Housing Coalition stands at the intersection of housing justice, racial justice, criminal justice, and social justice.

We envision a world built on principles of equality, justice, and solidarity, where care will replace the forces of policing, criminalization, and abandonment of marginalized communities. We believe that treating housing as a human right is a form of investment in human and community life that can fundamentally transform society. Realizing this vision begins from where we stand.

We work to transform Hudson and Catskill, the places we come from and call home, through empowerment, education, and mobilization around housing justice.

The Albany Free School

Located in the predominantly Black and low-income South-End neighborhood, The Albany Free School is an incubator for innovative, child-centered educational practices and a progressive model of education that is responsive to a world that is full of learning experiences and styles.

Over the past 50 decades, the Free School has directly inspired and helped to start more than a dozen schools and alternative learning spaces across the country and around the world. Under HCHC management since 2022, work has begun to revitalize the school building and re-integrate "whole village" engagement that is culturally responsive to the school body and community it exists in.

Local & Statewide Policies We Advocate For

  • GOOD CAUSE EVICTION

Hudson, NY, is the latest to pass Good Cause Eviction! Six other cities in New York state have passed Good Cause legislation – including Albany, Kingston, Poughkeepsie, Ithaca, Beacon, and Newburgh – which gives renters more rights. Catskill must follow suit.

  • CLEAN SLATE NEW YORK

A huge win for us was on the state-level, when we campaigned diligently for the Clean Slate Act in New York, which paves the way for the automatic sealing of eligible criminal records (as opposed to having to apply for that process, something less than 1% of formerly convicted people did).

  • THE HUDSON BREATHE ACT

The Hudson Breathe Act reinvests our taxpayer dollars into housing and community services with a new vision of public safety.

The BREATHE ACT is a vision that allows all communities to finally breathe free.
