Hudson/Catskill Housing Coalition and The People’s Table Launch Coordinated Mutual Aid Food Distributions Across the Region

November 20, 2025, Hudson, NY — In the face of rising costs, shrinking public benefits, and deepening political crises, Hudson/Catskill Housing Coalition (HCHC) and The People’s Table are joining forces to meet urgent community needs while organizing for long-term change. Together, the organizations will host mutual aid food distribution events in Albany, Catskill, and Hudson on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Across the country, families are being forced to stretch less and less. Cuts to basic supports, skyrocketing grocery prices, and government budgets that prioritize militarization over human needs have created overlapping crises for millions. HCHC and The People’s Table are stepping in to ensure that residents not only receive food, care packages, and essential supplies, but also opportunities to take action and build collective power.

“Our communities deserve more than survival,” said Shirle Cross, Co-Founder and Board Member of the Hudson/Catskill Housing Coalition. “When the systems meant to keep people fed and safe fail, we show up for one another. We organize to change the conditions that created this crisis in the first place.”

Each site will distribute free food and hygiene supplies. Outreach materials will connect residents to immediate political actions, resources, and local organizing efforts. This approach grounds the distributions in a broader vision for community-led transformation.

This coordinated regional effort reflects a shared belief that no one should have to choose between food, rent, and medicine, and that we deserve a government that cares for the people, not one that abandons us. While mutual aid cannot replace the responsibilities of public institutions, it can illuminate what becomes possible when communities care for each other and demand accountability from those in power.

HCHC and The People’s Table plan to expand this work through future mass distribution efforts, deeper base-building, and ongoing regional collaboration.
