HCHC and Who We Be! Announce Juneteenth Week in Hudson, NY
May 13, 2026, Albany, Hudson, Catskill, NY — The Hudson/Catskill Housing Coalition and Who We Be! invite the public to join Juneteenth Week, a multi-day series of events centered on Black history, political education, wellness, and community gathering in Hudson from June 15-19, 2026.
At a time when many Hudson residents are facing housing injustice, economic hardship, immigration enforcement, and voting challenges, Juneteenth is a celebration of Black resistance, survival, and the continued fight for liberation. Juneteenth Week is a series of Black created events rooted in showing up for one another and strengthening the broader community ecosystem.
“We are working to the bone every single day to support our people,” said Shirle Cross, Co-Founder and Board Chair of HCHC. “In this moment, we are choosing to pour back into our community. We are choosing to love on our people, create space for connection, and remind each other that we do not have to face these challenges alone.”
Throughout the week, attendees can take part in political education sessions, wellness programming, shared meals, swimming, games, fireside chats, and community gatherings rooted in history, liberation, healing, and collective action. Juneteenth Week welcomes people from across the region and beyond, with some events open to the broader public and others intentionally created as Black-centered spaces for rest, reflection, and connection.
Organizers are currently seeking vendors, sponsors, and community partners interested in supporting Juneteenth Week. Local businesses, artists, organizations, and creators are encouraged to participate.
