HCHC Announces Two New Team Members to Strengthen Community Impact
March 12, 2026, Hudson, NY — As the Hudson/Catskill Housing Coalition (HCHC) continues expanding its mutual aid efforts, regional food distributions, tenant advocacy, and emergency housing support across Hudson, Catskill, and Albany, the organization is proud to announce the addition of two new members to its team. These additions come at a critical time of growth and coordination, strengthening HCHC’s capacity to respond to urgent community needs while advancing long-term housing justice and community power.
Diane Emerson joins HCHC as Hudson organizer. Emerson is a longtime Hudson resident, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose life has been rooted in service. A retired employee of the New York State Education Department, she has remained deeply engaged in her community through her church, local youth initiatives, and family-centered programming. Emerson also works part-time supporting elderly residents with their daily needs, a role that reflects her belief that everyone, regardless of background or circumstance, deserves care and dignity. Her passion for advocacy and hands-on support will strengthen HCHC’s work with seniors, families, and individuals navigating housing instability.
Erika Owens has been appointed as HCHC’s Hudson organizer. Owens is a lifelong Hudson resident and proud mother whose family and community are at the center of her work. She is deeply committed to giving back to the city that shaped her and is passionate about creating opportunity, stability, and support for local families. Owens brings lived experience, dedication, and a strong community presence to HCHC, helping to ensure that programs remain grounded in the real needs and voices of Hudson residents.
“The addition of Diane and Erika reflects HCHC’s continued investment in leadership that is rooted in community, compassion, and action," said Shirle Cross, Co-Founder and Board President of the Hudson/Catskill Housing Coalition. “Their involvement will help advance the coalition’s mission to ensure safe, stable, and equitable housing for all.”
